Overview

Reporting directly to the Financial Reporting Manager, this position will assist with the preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations and analysis as well as provide ongoing general business support and analysis. This position will also have primary duties and responsibilities for journal entry preparation, sales tax filings, month-end, quarter-end and annual financial close task completion.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in quarter-end close procedures and preparation of financial statements.
  • Review financial statements for reasonableness, operating trends and proper revenue and expense categorization and classification.
  • Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and enter general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns.
  • Assist with the compilation and calculation of bank compliance documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of audit workpapers and various reports required during audits.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Work with tax authorities and assist in preparation of information for tax returns.
  • Work with external auditors for financial statement and tax audits.
  • Performs special analysis and projects as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Candidates need to have the following experience and skills:

  • The minimum educational requirement for this position is a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • The minimum related experience required for this position is 3 years.
  • Knowledge of accounting and an understanding of general ledger accounts, including reconciliation and analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers, management, and external customers.
  • Ability to perform analysis on general ledger and other financial information.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Working knowledge of Great Plains or NetSuite preferable.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Strong decision-making skills including the ability to extrapolate from written procedures and policies.
  • Effective organizational skills and time management skills are necessary.
