Overview

The duties of the Human Resource Manager are to aid employees and management, and to serve as a liaison between employees and the Company when there is an issue or grievance. The Human Resource Manager should be involved, in varying degrees, in all areas that concern employee welfare. 

  

Responsibilities

Hiring

  • New hire authorizations(verifying rehire eligibility, background checks, DMV checks, INS verifications)
  • New hire paperwork review for completion and follow up with managers when necessary

 

Workers’ Compensation

  • File new claims with workers’ compensation insurance company
  • Follow up with injured employees and managers
  • Maintain the OSHA log detailing workers’ compensation injuries

 

Unemployment

  • Respond to claims
  • Provide additional documentation regarding separation to Department of Economic Opportunity
  • Appeal claims decisions when necessary
  • Advise managers before appeals hearing attendance

 

Employee Relations

  • Meeting with current and former employees to address concerns regarding their employment or termination when the Human Resource Manager is not available
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information regarding policies, procedures, benefits, etc.

 

401K

  • Assist with employee’s paperwork for loan requests
  • Assist with setting up new and updated payroll deferrals in ADP

  • Answer benefit-related questions

 

 

Legal

  • Work with the Legal Department on cases pertaining to employees, specifically EEOC, FLSA, etc.
  • Gather information to prepare responses to subpoenas for employee records

 

Payroll

  • Assist setting up new hires in ADP on a weekly basis.

 

Policies

  • Assist in researching changes in laws and industry standards to ensure that current policies are up to date

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree preferred
  • 2+ years of HR experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
